The Inglenook Fireplace

This was discovered about 20 years ago when Walt was doing some repairs and found a cavity behind the then existing modern fireplace.

After removing the fireplace we found the inglenook, complete with a seat on one side and a bread oven on the other. Even the ashes were still in the grate. There was a hole where the meat hook hung, a space under the seat for the farmer's boots and one for a beer mug or candle.
